This Sunday, Los Angeles County reported 2,718 new cases of COVID-19 and nine more deaths, bringing the total number of cases to 364,520 cases and 7,438 deaths.

The county had amassed three days with more than 4,000 reported cases, including Thursday’s record of 5,031, the highest number of infections in a day since the pandemic began.

According to the latest data from health authorities, 1,401 hospitals infected with the virus are in the hospital, 26 percent of them in intensive care units. That is more than double the daily amount in early October when it was less than 700.

The restrictions could be increased, warned health officials. If the five-day average of cases increases to 4,500 or more, or hospital admissions are more than 2,000 per day, a three-week home order is placed.
