LA to show Dodger Stadium right into a COVID-19 vaccination web site
Los Angeles, California) [US]Jan 11 (ANI): Dodger Stadium, the largest testing site in the U.S., will be a COVID-19 vaccination site by the end of the week, CNN reported Monday.
Dodger Stadium will be a COVID-19 vaccination site by the end of the week and will stop offering testing as of today, CNN reported, citing the testimony of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.
According to the statement, up to 12,000 people per day can be vaccinated once the site is fully functional.
Moving to a vaccination site will reduce testing capacity in the county, but triple the number of vaccines available to residents. The statement plans to expand testing to other locations across the county.
“Vaccines are the surest way to defeat this virus and show a path to recovery. So the city, county and all of our team are using our best resources to get Angelenos vaccinated as quickly, safely and efficiently as possible.” Said Garcetti.
“In this moment of darkness, with cases, hospitalizations and deaths skyrocketing, this bold move to offer both Covid-19 testing and vaccines in the heart of Los Angeles reflects the dual nature of that moment – it is dark but hopeful at the same time, “said Hilda Solis, chairwoman of the LA County Board of Supervisors.
The California Health Department announced on Sunday that everyone in the higher priority groups known as Phase 1A, including healthcare workers, residents and nursing home workers, and those living in a community such as shelters, is eligible for vaccination, reported CNN.
Health department data shows that about 33 percent of the doses received were given nationwide. (ANI)
