Coronavirus US: Outbreaks drive Three LA meals suppliers to shut
Three food suppliers in Los Angeles, including McDonald’s largest provider, are forced to close due to COVID-19 outbreaks, which has resulted in 140 employees testing positive

- The closings were announced on Monday by Los Angeles County’s health director Barbara Ferrer
- She said suppliers failed to adhere to operating logs during the coronavirus pandemic and failed to alert health officials of the outbreaks
Three Los Angeles food suppliers, including McDonald’s largest, have been asked to shut down due to large-scale COVID-19 outbreaks that have tested positive for more than 140 employees.
Some of the companies that have to close include McDonald’s supplier Golden State Foods Corp. in industry, S&S Foods in Azusa and a Mission Foods branch in retail.
The closings were announced on Monday by Barbara Ferrer, director of health for Los Angeles County. She said suppliers failed to adhere to operating logs during the coronavirus pandemic.
Ferrer said the companies had more than 40 cases each but did not report the outbreaks to health officials as needed.

Los Angeles County reported 2,039 new cases on Monday, bringing the total number of infections to 176,028. Meanwhile, 17 new deaths were reported on Monday, bringing the death toll in the county to 4,375
Golden State Foods, one of McDonald’s largest suppliers, had 43 cases related to its facility.
Mission Foods, one of the most popular US tortilla makers, had 40 workers test positive.
S&S Foods, a meat supplier in the restaurant, has 58 confirmed cases.
‘They have significant outbreaks among their employees. We were not notified as we need to be notified once they had their three cases, ”Ferrer said.
“Our inspector asked them to make some changes to really improve their infection control protocols at all three sites.”
The 141 cases are added to the list of workplaces where more than three cases have been confirmed.
There are currently 245 companies on the list, with 3,108 employees testing positive.
It comes after approximately 375 employees at Los Angeles Apparel clothing factories tested positive for COVID-19.

Four of these employees have since passed away.
The facility had to close on June 27th but was given permission to reopen last week.
Los Angeles County reported 2,039 new cases on Monday, bringing the total number of infections to 176,028.
Meanwhile, 17 new deaths were reported on Monday, bringing the death toll in the county to 4,375.
‘It has been 145 days since the public health emergency COVID-19 was declared in Los Angeles County. The past 145 days have given us time to learn a lot more about COVID-19 – how to coexist with it as we wait for treatments and vaccines to develop, and how to slow the spread to give our healthcare system a chance to treat those who are treating COVID-19 get seriously ill, ”Ferrer said.
‘We need to drive compliance, containment and collaboration efforts that will lead us to a long-term recovery that we all want to achieve as soon as possible.
‘There’s growing evidence that these strategies work. The task ahead is to thread the needle so we can continue our journey of recovery while protecting the health and wellbeing of our residents, our workforce, and our community. We have to do both. ‘
