Beverly Hills Restaurant Urged To Scrap Alleged Plans For ‘Secret’ NYE Social gathering – CBS Los Angeles
BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA) – A New Years Eve dinner party allegedly promoted by a famous Beverly Hills restaurant is no longer a secret and officials are hoping to end the event.
La Scala, a gourmet Italian restaurant, reportedly put invitations in tote bags to gauge customer interest in a speakeasy-style party. The invitation partially states:
“Welcome back to the prohibition of the 1920s. … We are currently taking reservations for the New Year’s Eve dinner. Within. If you are interested, please let us know as soon as possible. If there is sufficient interest, we will contact you to secure a reservation. Please keep this discreet but tell all of your friends. “
However, news of the event spread on social media and prompted Beverly Hills officials to step in. The Beverly Hills Police Department was even tagged on social media, responding:
“Thank you for marking the BHPD. Beverly Hills Code Enforcement is aware and will address this issue. “
Keith Sterling, Beverly Hills Public Information Officer, told the City News Service, “The city contacted Scala officials directly (on December 24th) to confirm the terms of the county’s health ordinance.
“We understand this is an incredibly difficult time for all of our businesses. However, the County Order currently bans indoor and outdoor dining, including in the city of Beverly Hills.”
